Description: In this article the authors integrate perspectives from neurology and studio art therapy as they apply to the art production of an individual with dementia. The main areas of the brain involved in art production, and the art-related consequences of brain deterioration in different types of dementia, are discussed. The case of an artist with corticobasal degeneration is examined with respect to her neurological symptoms, changes in her art over time that occurred as a result of her dementia, studio adaptations and interventions, and therapeutic progress informed by neurological knowledge of her illness.
